Housing Check In
If you're staying at the Warren Apartments, the first thing you should do is check in at Earl's Place. For locations, go to this site http://mlgsca.mlanet.org/jtmtg2013/travel.html and scroll down to see the map labeled "Housing/Dining to Price Center." Earl's Place is marked with the letter "C". There is temporary parking at the end of Equality Lane (at the turn-around) or along the sidewalk of Voigt Drive while you go to Earl’s Place to check in.
If you are staying at the Warren Apartments, make sure to check in at Earl’s Place before checking in for the meeting or CE because this is where you get your parking permit!
Earl's Place opens for check-in at 7:00 a.m.
CE Check In
If you're attending the CE and have either already checked in at the Warren Apartments or aren't staying at the Warren Apartments, proceed to your CE site, either at the Price Center or the Biomedical Library.
The registration and hospitality desk will be located on the second floor of the Price Center, outside the East Ballroom, and a satellite registration desk will operate in the Biomedical Library classroom immediately prior to the Continuing Education classes occurring in the Biomedical Library classroom at 8 am and noon. For building locations please go to this page http://mlgsca.mlanet.org/jtmtg2013/travel.html and scroll down to the map labeled "Price Center to Biomedical Library." For locations/times of CEs, please go to this page: http://mlgsca.mlanet.org/jtmtg2013/ce.html. A registration volunteer will greet you there with your Joint Meeting Badge.
Meeting Check In
If you're not attending a CE and have either already checked in at the Warren Apartments or aren't staying at the Warren Apartments, please go to the Price Center. The registration and hospitality desk will be located on the second floor of the Price Center, outside the East Ballroom.
Q: Why aren't we holding our meeting at a luxury resort?
A: One constant point of discussion in our business meetings has been controlling costs. The bulk of the costs from recent meetings came in the form of hotel/catering fees, which prompted us to attempt a different venue and slightly different model. Our goal is to channel reduced costs into increased focus on connecting with other members, continuing to bring speakers and top-notch CE instructors, and the engaging with intellectual content we're all bringing!
Q: I am coming from out of state and I am not renting a car – what address should I give to the shuttle or taxi driver from the airport?
A: There is only one address for campus:
9500 Gilman Drive
La Jolla, CA 92093
Tell the Taxi/Shuttle driver to to enter from the Northpoint entrance and bring you to the end of Equality Lane (you are heading to Earl's Place on Warren College).
Q: Can I have my own private room and my own private bathroom?
A: You can have your own private room and share a bathroom with one other person. This option is called "Single Occupancy" in the Registration Guide, which you can view here: http://mlgsca.mlanet.org/jtmtg2013/files/Registration%20Guide.pdf
Q: Can I arrange to share a suite/room with a friend?
A: YES! When you register (http://www.cvent.com/events/mlgsca-ncnmlg-joint-meeting-2013/event-summary-f06913e607294a268136035741720f12.aspx) there is a space where you can indicate an individual with whom you'd like to share a space. If you don't have a room/suite preference, you'll be paired with another member.
Q: Can my family stay with me in the Warren Apartments?
A: YES! You'll need to decide what kind of accommodations make the most sense for your family (reserving an entire suite, or sharing the space with other MLGSCA/NCNMLG members), but your family is welcome to stay in the Warren Apartments. If you decide to stay with a family member in a shared room with other MLGSCA/NCNMLG members, it would be courteous to inform the other member of that housing arrangement.
Q: Where do I check in for the conference upon arrival (for conference and for housing)? What if I arrive after hours?
A: For those staying in the Warren Apartments, you can in to your room at Earl's Place. The Earl's Place desk is open until Midnight.
The registration desk for the Joint Meeting will be in front of the East Ballroom on the 2nd floor of the Price Center. There will be signs to direct you.
Q: Do I need to bring my own bedding, like summer camp?
A: No, bedding is provided.
Q: I'd like to arrive a night early or stay an extra day. Can I have reserve a room at the Warren Apartments?
A: YES! The details are listed on this PDF (http://mlgsca.mlanet.org/jtmtg2013/files/Registration%20Guide.pdf) under "Additional Add-On Nights."
Q: The food in the Canyon Vista Restaurant is delicious. Can I take a doggy-bag of snacks out of the restaurant back to my room or the conference?
A: Unfortunately the Canyon Vista Restaurant prohibits taking food out of the restaurant. However, this is an all-you-care-to-eat restaurant, so you don't have to leave feeling hungry!
