Library Access for Preceptors

Welcome to the Family Nurse Practitioner Library Guide! 

All Clinical Placement Preceptors receive free access to USC library resources (apps, textbooks, reference books, databases, journals, full-text articles, and more) licensed by the Norris Medical Library and the larger USC Libraries system

How to access library resources: 

  1. First, you need a USC NetID. Follow the instructions in the box below get your USC NetID. 
  2. To access library resources, start at any page on the Norris Medical Library website. When you click on a licensed library resource, you'll be prompted to enter your USC NetID and password.

How to use library resources:

  1. Read this page. The information on this page will introduce Clinical Placement Preceptors to the basics of accessing and using Norris Medical Library resources. 
  2. For more detailed instructions and video tutorials on how to find specific types of information and use specific resources, please refer to the Family Nurse Practitioner LibGuide. This guide is the official library guide for the Family Nurse Practitioner program.
  3. Browse other Norris Medical Library subject guides. See the box labeled "Additional Library Guides" on this page.
  4. Get help finding information, searching databases, or using ebooks, journals, databases, or apps by contacting Hannah Schilperoort, Nursing@USC librarian, or Norris Medical Library Reference Services
  5. If you would like even more in-depth guidance, the Nursing@USC librarian is happy to set up virtual library orientations or workshops. 

 

 

 

Important Links

Your USC NetID

All Clinical Placement Preceptors must have a USC NetID to access library resources. Follow the instructions below to get your USC NetID.

  1. Contact Josephine Fava Hochuli, Nursing@USC Clinical Placements Director, at favahoch@usc.edu or 410-913-9538. Ms. Fava Hochuli will provide you with the "Library Use Agreement" form. Complete the form and return it to Ms. Fava Hochuli.
  2. Once your application is processed, you will receive an email with instructions on how to active your USC NetID account. Activation is done online and will require you to enter your date of birth and create a password. 
  3. To use library resources, start at any page on the Norris Medical Library website. When you click on a licensed library resource, you'll be prompted to enter your USC NetID and password.
